His vision of the landscape in technology over the coming years is a Europe that is not playing catch up but one that is actually innovating from the ground up. This starts with the fundamentals: what are we building and what do we really (and I mean REALLY own)?

Much of the knowledge in AI and tech is public. Training models has been public knowledge for a few years and so has running the former. The issue at the moment is convenience over ownership. Technology as a whole has been built on years of a few doing the difficult work and abstracting it away from many of the users. For coders, for example, a lot of the work that used to be done in older, much more complex languages, has been simplified into the programming languages we know and love today. Almost everyone now is capable of vibe coding an application either in Python or Javascript simply because someone did the hard work of surfacing the difficult things into a consumable form that allowed for a broader base to work on many more interesting projects in code.

AI is on the same trajectory. Today with a simple API and API key you can build an entire application. The problem with this model, however, is at the top level, many do not understand the fundamentals, and once one of those fundamentals is compromised, the entire structure falls apart. In a field like legal tech, where data is so important, lacking an understanding of the underlying structure is not only a risk to the company/provider but to the users themselves.

This begs the question: among the tools you use, which provider is able to give you a full audit of where your information is going and do it with confidence? This is the problem Caleb is focused on solving FIRST before moving into innovation.
