DATEV eG is a software house and IT service provider based in Nuremberg, organised as a cooperative. According to its own information, the company is one of the largest software houses in Europe and has around 40,000 members. The portfolio comprises over 200 software products and IT services; around 15 million payroll statements are produced through it every month. In 2026, DATEV celebrates its 60th anniversary.

The offerings are aimed at tax consultancy, auditing and legal advice as well as businesses and the public sector. In addition, there are educational partnerships with schools and universities. Alongside software, service and support, expertise and further training, as well as events and online product presentations, are also available.

For law firms, DATEV has been offering solutions under the name DATEV Anwalt for over 25 years. DATEV Anwalt classic supports law firm organisation and case work, for example in file management. In addition, there are start-up packages for setting up a law firm, offerings for interdisciplinary collaboration between lawyers and other professional groups, IT outsourcing for law firm infrastructure, as well as individual consulting and learning offerings.

A key focus of portfolio development is on cloud-based applications. DATEV describes the move to the cloud as the technological future of the profession and is aligning its product portfolio to fully digitalise workflows in law firms. The cloud applications include, among others, DATEV Unternehmen online, DATEV Meine Steuern, DATEV Arbeitnehmer online, DATEV SmartTransfer and the DATEV E-Rechnungsplattform, which serves the requirements relating to e-invoicing.

DATEV’s own offering is complemented by a partner network and the DATEV Marketplace, through which solutions from partner companies are integrated. DATEV cites certified data security, calculable costs, flexibility, up-to-date software and service as reasons for collaboration. For professional exchange, there is also the DATEV community, the knowledge platform and the DATEV magazin, featuring news from business, law and tax.
