Lawyers on Fire

Lawyers on Fire is a podcast about law, artificial intelligence and Legal Tech. The format was founded in 2016 and relaunched in 2025 with a new direction as “The Next Generation”; in 2026 it marks its tenth anniversary with a special edition.

The hosts are Carina Zehetmaier, Pia Bollig, Dr. Benedikt Quarch and Dr. Carsten Reimann. In the episodes, they speak with lawyers, law students, legal innovators, founders and entrepreneurs. Thematically, the spectrum ranges from the classification of complex legal questions, career paths and work-life balance to current legal technology and the future of the legal business model.

The podcast is published bilingually in German and English. The episodes include, among others, conversations about the involvement of the Bundesnotarkammer (Federal Chamber of Notaries) in a private software provider in the notarial sector, a review of ten years of Legal Tech development including a comparison of the US and German markets, as well as multi-part interviews with Legal Design pioneer Antti Innanen about open source and the realignment of Legal AI. In addition, there is the spin-off format “Founders under Fire”, in which founders from the Legal AI sector are interviewed.

The podcast addresses primarily career starters as well as experienced lawyers who are dealing with the impact of AI and automation on their work. According to its own information, the podcast is listened to throughout the German-speaking region as well as in numerous other countries, including Australia, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the USA.
