About Doctrine

Doctrine is a legaltech company based in Paris that develops an AI-powered platform for legal work. The offering is aimed at lawyers, corporate legal departments, public authorities and courts. In addition to France and Italy, the company is also present in Germany, Spain and Luxembourg.

The platform combines publicly available legal data with users’ own documents in a shared digital working environment. It supports legal research, the analysis of documents and contracts, as well as the drafting of legal submissions. The so-called Legal Graph brings together interlinked legal content such as case law and legislation. Document collections can be structured and made searchable, and contracts can be reviewed for risks and clause design. Doctrine is designed to integrate into existing workflows and tools.

For the German market, Doctrine works together with dejure.org. The company has held a strategic stake in the legal database since 2025; the two platforms are being gradually connected. As a result, users gain access to German legislation and court rulings via Doctrine’s interface. According to the company, around 18,000 lawyers across Europe use its solutions, including law firms and companies.

A defining feature of Doctrine is the combination of specialised legal AI with vetted legal sources, along with the aim of providing answers that are traceably backed by references. The company emphasises the connection to each respective national legal system: the technology is adapted to the data situation and practice of each local legal market. It is guided by the vision of a European law that is more accessible, transparent and efficient to use.
