About Libra Technology GmbH

Libra develops an AI platform for law firms and legal departments that brings together legal research, document creation and contract review within a single working environment. The solution was designed by lawyers for the requirements of legal practice. It helps teams evaluate information more quickly, simplify recurring tasks and gain more time for substantive advisory work.

At its core is the combination of AI with legal sources and internal knowledge. Libra provides access to legislation, case law and specialist content, including offerings from Wolters Kluwer Online and Otto Schmidt. Source references help users trace statements and check results for accuracy. Firms’ own documents can also serve as a knowledge base. This allows external legal information to be combined with the existing knowledge of a law firm or company.

The platform supports steps in day-to-day work. Via a chat interface, users can conduct research, draft texts and analyse documents. The Review function supports initial contract review based on internal guidelines and standards. Discovery is designed to extract relevant information from extensive document collections in a structured way, for example for due diligence. Further areas of application range from drafting pleadings and compliance checks to translations and the drafting of e-mails.

For recurring tasks, Libra offers pre-built and individually configurable AI assistants that can be shared within a team. Multi-step processes can be combined into workflows. This allows organisations to map their own review criteria and working methods within the platform and apply them consistently. The aim is to reduce routine work and structure legal processes in a transparent way.

Part of the offering is integration into existing working environments. Libra can be used with applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, SharePoint and Kleos. This makes AI support available wherever documents are edited, information is managed and matters are prepared. This is intended to reduce the need to switch between different tools.

When handling confidential information, Libra relies on a security concept with ISO 27001 certification and hosting within the European Economic Area. According to the company, the platform is GDPR-compliant; inputs and outputs are not used to train AI models. Encryption and controlled access rights supplement the protective measures.

Libra was founded by, among others, co-founders Viktor von Essen and Dr. Bo Tranberg, together with a team of legal and technical experts. According to the company, more than 1,300 legal teams and over 16,000 lawyers across Europe use the offering. Libra thus positions itself as a partner for a digital legal practice that combines expertise with practical AI.
