About the speaker

Tim-Julien Richter is a business law graduate and works as a Senior Consultant at Deloitte Legal at the interface of law, technology and organisation. There, he supports legal departments through their digital transformation and advises in particular on Legal Tech, Legal Operations and Artificial Intelligence. His areas of focus include the implementation of Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) systems and other Legal Tech solutions, as well as the analysis, modelling and optimisation of legal processes. He is particularly interested in how new technologies can be meaningfully integrated into the existing processes, structures and working methods of legal departments.

At the start of his career, he also worked for the Baden-Württemberg state police. Before joining Deloitte Legal, Tim-Julien gained in-house experience in the legal departments of companies in the automotive and pharmaceutical industries. These varied career stages have shaped his interdisciplinary view of legal, technological and organisational issues, as well as his keen sense for people, different perspectives and interpersonal dynamics.

Alongside his professional work, Tim-Julien is intensively involved in the Vereinigung der Wirtschaftsjuristinnen und -juristen e.V. (VWJ). Established more than five years ago and growing rapidly, this professional association now counts almost 400 members and campaigns for the networking, visibility and further development of the business law profession.

As part of his involvement with the VWJ, Tim-Julien is particularly committed to the further development and networking of the profession, as well as strengthening competencies relevant to the future. Together with other members of the association, he develops and organises training offerings such as the Legal Tech Certificate Course. The aim is to familiarise business law graduates with current technologies, methods and developments in the legal market in a practice-oriented way, and to foster dialogue on how legal professions are changing as a result of technological developments.

He is particularly interested in the role of business law graduates at the interface of law, technology and business. Given their interdisciplinary training, he sees diverse opportunities for them to actively help shape the digital transformation of legal work and to mediate between legal requirements, business processes and technological solutions.

Tim-Julien holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Law (LL.B.) and completed the part-time Master’s programme in Legal Management (LL.M.) at Hochschule Konstanz in 2024.
