About the speaker
Carmen Wolf trained as a qualified legal secretary (Rechtsanwaltsfachangestellte, qualified 1991) and went on to complete further training as a Rechtswirtin (1996) and as a law firm manager (2006). She has worked as office manager at the Koblenz law firm FROMM since 1992 and knows the requirements, processes and challenges of everyday law firm life from many years of her own experience.
Her particular concern is the training and continuing education of law firm staff. Her areas of specialist expertise include deadline management, law firm organisation, dunning and enforcement proceedings, as well as fee billing and its enforcement. Although she is not a lawyer, she has been approved as a trainer by the Koblenz Bar Association (Rechtsanwaltskammer Koblenz). For many years, she has also been active on the examination boards for legal secretaries and certified legal specialists (Rechtsfachwirte), as well as on the vocational training and arbitration committee. Since 2026, she has also been teaching on the “Bachelor Professional im Rechtswesen” degree programme, run by the regional bar associations under the leadership of the Stuttgart Bar Association and Hera-Fortbildung in Frankfurt.
A particular focus of her work is the use of Artificial Intelligence in law firms, especially in the lawyer's secretariat. Carmen Wolf is open to new developments and is deeply engaged with the question of how AI can meaningfully support everyday life at a law firm. For several years, she has been showing in numerous webinars and online training courses how law firm staff can understand AI, use it safely, and apply it to create time-saving workflows. Her aim is not to celebrate new technologies uncritically. She highlights opportunities, clearly addresses risks, and places great value on the responsible use of AI. This includes taking a critical view of AI-generated results, protecting confidential client data, and maintaining awareness that professional review and human responsibility remain indispensable.
Her approach is practice-oriented: AI should not become an end in itself, but should provide support wherever it genuinely eases the burden in everyday law firm work. Carmen Wolf wants to break down reservations, convey knowledge in an understandable way, and empower law firm staff to make competent use of the new possibilities. After all, those who keep pace with the times can actively shape change rather than having to catch up with it later.
Carmen Wolf is the author of several specialist books, including “Arbeitshilfen für Rechtsanwaltsfachangestellte” (9th edition, 2025) and “RVG für Einsteiger” (5th edition, 2016). She is also the editor of the monthly “Infobrief anwaltbüro”. She develops e-learning modules, including on deadline management as well as costs and fees, and regularly publishes articles for specialist portals and legal journals, including “MKG-Online”, “anwaltspraxis-Magazin”, “AK – Anwalt und Kanzlei”, “RVG-NEWS” and “RENOpraxis”.
In her freelance work, she has for many years been active as an author, editor, speaker and online trainer for various specialist publishers and continuing education providers. Her clients include, among others, Deubner Verlag, ZAP Verlag, the Deutsches Anwaltsinstitut, ffi-Verlag, the IWW Institut für Wissen in der Wirtschaft, Soldan and Arber. Her subjects combine sound law firm expertise with the demands of a changing working world. Her particular concern is to strengthen the role of law firm assistance and to show how professional competence, digital developments and Artificial Intelligence can work together meaningfully.
