About the speaker
Verena Reichstein is a Senior Associate in the Düsseldorf office of Dentons and a member of the Intellectual Property and Technology practice group. For several years, she has been advising national and internationally operating companies on all legal issues relating to IT law and has specialised in three core areas: digital transformation projects and IT outsourcing, European digital regulation, and legal issues surrounding artificial intelligence.
After completing her legal training, Verena Reichstein worked as an Associate at DLA Piper from 2022 to 2025, before joining Dentons as a Senior Associate in 2025. In both positions, she has built up extensive experience advising multinational clients on complex, large-scale IT projects.
In the field of digital transformation and IT outsourcing, Verena Reichstein supports companies with the legal structuring and negotiation of IT contracts, complex tendering procedures and ongoing project support. She has expertise in advising on sovereign cloud platforms, structured procurement procedures and cross-border outsourcing projects. In the field of European digital regulation, she provides comprehensive advice to clients on the new requirements arising from the AI Act, DORA, the Data Act and related regulatory frameworks. In doing so, she supports both providers and users of digital services in implementing regulatory requirements in contractual practice and internal compliance structures.
In the field of artificial intelligence, she supports companies in the legal classification and safeguarding of AI deployment – from contract drafting and regulatory risk analysis to compliance measures.
Verena Reichstein has, among other things, advised an internationally active German software OEM on contract drafting for the development and operation of a sovereign cloud platform. She has advised a leading company in the rail infrastructure sector on a comprehensive digitalisation project, including a structured tendering procedure and contract negotiations, as well as legal issues arising in the further course of the project. In addition, she has advised an internationally leading automotive company on a digital transformation project and an internationally operating specialty chemicals group on issues relating to the use of open-source software in proprietary software. Further clients include a globally operating technology company in the field of artificial intelligence, as well as an internationally operating insurance company, which she advises on an ongoing basis on outsourcing and digitalisation projects. She has also advised a leading IT services provider on IT projects in the financial sector, taking into account sector-specific regulation – in particular DORA.
Verena Reichstein is co-author of the Berliner Kommentar zur KI-Verordnung (Art. 50, Erich Schmidt Verlag, 2025), one of the first German-language standard works on the AI Act. She is also the author of the article “DORA – gesetzliche Verordnung von IT-Sicherheit im Finanzsektor” (DSRITB 2024, p. 357) and co-author of the article “Die Behandlung von Software nach neuem Produkthaftungsrecht – Teil 1” (CR 2026, 568). She regularly gives lectures on current developments in IT law, in particular on European digital regulation, AI and cloud computing.
