About the speaker
Sarah Leischel is Venture Lead at 1763X, a subsidiary of the C. H. Beck publishing group. 1763X is dedicated to the future of the knowledge economy and operates along three pillars: Strategic Foresight, Investments and Venture Building. Since July 2026, she has been helping to build the newly founded unit alongside Managing Director Dr. Dr. Oliver Hofmann.
As Venture Lead, she focuses on the future of the legal market and the question of how technology and artificial intelligence (AI) are changing the way legal services are created, delivered and paid for. In doing so, she analyses where the market is heading and what business models are emerging as a result; she supports the company's investment processes and contributes to venture building. The focus is on start-ups from legal tech, govtech and regtech, as well as adjacent regulated markets.
She knows legal practice from her own experience: before moving to 1763X, she worked in the legal department of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE. As Associate Legal Counsel in the Media Law team, she advised the business units on media, press and personality rights issues. She was also responsible there for training legal trainees and established the “Law Café”, a format for interdisciplinary knowledge transfer. Alongside her job, she obtained an LL.M. in the Law of Digitalisation from the University of Cologne, building the bridge from legal practice to legal tech and AI. On the side, she works as a lawyer at Kindling Medienrecht, advising among other things on the use of AI in the creator economy. As part of this role, she is also responsible for the “KM – Creative AI Sessions”, a lecture series aimed at artists, musicians, filmmakers and other creatives, as well as companies in the creative industries.
She has also founded something herself: in 2020, she established the Women Entrepreneurs Law Clinic e. V., which provides legal advice to women entrepreneurs on their start-up projects. The concept: students provide advice under the guidance and supervision of fully qualified lawyers from various partner law firms – both renowned boutiques and large firms. Sarah Leischel was responsible for the strategic development and expansion of these partnerships. Behind this lie two concerns: making it easier for more women to take the step into entrepreneurship, and creating access to legal knowledge where it is lacking – a cause close to her heart that she continues to pursue today from a different perspective at 1763X.
